Position Overview
The Regional Controller – BC Region plays a key
strategic role in overseeing the financial operations of multiple Dilawri
dealerships across British Columbia. Reporting to the Regional Director of
Finance, this position provides financial leadership, ensures adherence to
accounting standards and manufacturer requirements, and partners closely with
Dealer Principals, General Managers, and regional leadership to drive
performance, operational discipline, and long‑term profitability.
The expected pay for this position is
$110,000.00 - $140,000.00 annually.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Financial
Leadership & Oversight
o
Lead and oversee accounting and finance
functions across multiple dealerships within the region.
o
Establish, implement, and maintain consistent
accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and systems.
o
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of
financial records and reporting.
o
Serve as a key member of the regional accounting
leadership team and a strategic financial advisor to store management and
regional leadership.
· Financial
Reporting & Analysis
o
Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and year‑to‑date
financial statements in accordance with GAAP, manufacturer requirements, and
internal timelines.
o
Conduct analytical reviews to identify budget
variances, unusual trends, and performance gaps; provide recommendations for
improvement.
o
Prepare consolidated regional financial reports
and dashboards for executive leadership.
o
Oversee annual financial statement preparation
and support year‑end audits and external reviews.
· Dealership
& Manufacturer Accounting
o
Ensure compliance with all manufacturer
reporting requirements, including warranty claims, incentives, advertising
programs, rebates, and interest protection.
o
Oversee inventory accounting, floor plan
reconciliations, and wholesale liabilities, including lease and rental
vehicles.
o
Review and approve adjustments related to
inventory, depreciation, amortization, write‑offs, prepaid expenses, and
reserves.
o
Ensure accurate reconciliation of all general
ledger accounts, including banks, manufacturer accounts, inventory financing,
and reserves.
· Compliance,
Risk & Tax
o
Ensure compliance with GAAP, the Income Tax Act,
and all applicable federal and provincial regulations.
o
Monitor tax and regulatory changes and advise
leadership on operational or structural adjustments as needed.
o
Oversee insurance, fixed assets, and reserves
for contingent liabilities.
o
Support risk management, internal controls, and
audit preparedness across the region.
· Leadership,
Coaching & Collaboration
o
Lead, coach, and develop accounting teams across
multiple dealership locations.
o
Support recruitment, training, performance
management, and succession planning within the accounting function.
o
Collaborate with department managers to analyze
financial performance and identify improvement opportunities.
o
Participate in management meetings, providing
financial insights and recommendations.
· Operational
Support
o
Review daily and monthly management reports and
escalate emerging trends or concerns to leadership.
o
Approve credit policies and oversee accounts
receivable and collection practices.
o
Negotiate and oversee key supplier and service
contracts when required.
o
Lead and support regional financial and
operational projects as assigned.
Qualifications Required
·
Minimum 8+ years of progressive accounting
experience; automotive dealership experience strongly preferred.
·
Experience overseeing multi‑location
or regional operations is a strong asset.
·
University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a
related field.
·
CPA designation preferred.
·
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and
strong systems/financial software literacy.
·
Proven leadership and people‑management
experience, with the ability to support teams across multiple sites.
·
Strong business acumen, with deep understanding
of dealership operations including inventory, floor plans, and expense
management.
·
Excellent verbal and written communication
skills.
·
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and
capable of managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced
environment.
·
Collaborative, hands‑on leadership
style with a customer‑focused mindset.
·
Legally entitled to work in Canada.
